Demetrio Masupil
#VODWFutureVoices
I want to become a voice for the voiceless and to create more visibility and awareness of migrant domestic workers lives and experiences to help overcome the injustices that they face
My Story
My name is Demetrio Masupil, I was born in the Philippines to a very large family of 12. In 2015 I left my home to work abroad as a domestic worker. I have worked in various roles, such as Butler, Valet, Housekeeper, and a Carer- having traveled all over the world. I now live in the UK where I continue to work as a domestic worker.
I am also a member of The Voice of Domestic Workers and part of its Media & Communication Working Group, helping my fellow domestic workers in the community. I truly believe in supporting others, allowing them to overcome the challenges we face. With the guidance and support of the VODW, I pieced myself back together and now I'm able to stand again.
Now knowing my rights, I am able to walk tall and proud- confidently able to accomplish my goals.
