As the New Year begins, I send my warmest wishes and deepest respect to every domestic worker and migrant worker across the world. No matter where this message finds you, whether in a quiet room after a long day’s work, during a short break, or in the stillness of the early morning, please know that you are seen, you are valued, and you are not alone. May this year bring us renewed strength, dignity in our labor, and opportunities that lead us closer to the lives we are working so hard to build.
To all of us who have left our homes behind, who crossed borders with hope in our hearts and fear in our bags, this New Year is a reminder of our incredible courage. We are the ones who miss birthdays, graduations, holidays, and ordinary moments that mean everything. We care for children who are not our own, support families that are not ours, and keep homes running while our own homes feel far away. These sacrifices are heavy, but they are made with love, determination, and faith in a better tomorrow.
There are days when loneliness feels overwhelming. Days when exhaustion settles deep into our bones. Days when we question if anyone truly understands the weight of what we carry. Yet still, we rise. Still, we show kindness. Still, we work with honesty and care. That quiet resilience is our strength, even when it goes unnoticed.
Let this year be a year of unity. Let us stand together, hand in hand, heart to heart. When one of us struggles, may another be there to listen. When one voice is silenced, may many others speak. Our power grows when we choose solidarity over fear and compassion over division. Together, we are stronger than any challenge placed before us.
Our work matters. It sustains households, supports economies, and allows countless families to thrive. We deserve respect, fair treatment, and safe working conditions. Not as favors, but as rights. May this year bring stronger protections, greater awareness, and louder advocacy for domestic and migrant workers everywhere.
May we continue to lift each other up with kindness. Let us share our stories with pride, not shame. Every journey is important. Every voice carries truth. By telling our stories, we honor not only ourselves but also those who came before us and those who will follow.
As we move forward, may our journeys be safer and our paths clearer. May our rights be strengthened, our voices amplified, and our dreams closer than they have ever been. May we never forget our worth, even when the world tries to make us feel small.
This New Year, let us choose hope. Let us choose courage. Let us choose each other.
Here’s to a year of dignity, respect, and solidarity. To every domestic and migrant worker around the world, no matter your language, your country, or your story, remember this, together, we rise. Happy New Year.
