May 24, 2026 will always stay in my heart as a date I will never forget, my very first hiking experience at the Seven Sisters Cliffs, walking all the way to Eastbourne. It was more than just a trip; it was a journey that carried meaning, emotion, and personal discovery from beginning to end.
My journey with fellow domestic workers has always been a source of growth, but this experience felt especially meaningful. After a week of hard work, dedication, and shared effort, we finally came together as members of The Voice of Domestic Workers. Seeing everyone in one place, ready to explore and experience something new outside of our usual routines, strengthened our unity in a way words can hardly fully describe.

From the moment the day began, there was already warmth and excitement in the air. Each person brought something to share, different food, snacks, and drinks, like a small reflection of how diverse yet connected we are. We didn’t just eat together; we shared stories, laughter, and presence. Sitting on the grass, passing food around, talking endlessly, and taking countless photos became simple yet priceless moments. Some of us played music, adding rhythm and joy to the atmosphere, turning a simple lunch into something that felt like celebration.
What made the day even more special was how naturally everything came together. There was no rush, no pressure, just people enjoying each other’s company, capturing memories through endless selfies, laughter, and shared experiences. In those moments, I realized how rare it is to feel completely present and connected with others in such a genuine way. But beyond the laughter and beautiful scenery, this hiking trip became something deeply personal for me.

It did not only take us through stunning landscapes; it also took me through my own limits. Walking continuously for around four hours was not easy. There were moments when my legs felt heavy, my breathing grew tired, and my body started to ache. I questioned my strength at times, wondering how much further I could go. But step by step, I kept moving forward.
And with every step, something inside me also grew stronger. This journey tested me in ways I did not expect. It showed me endurance I did not know I had. It reminded me that strength is not always loud or obvious, it is often found in quiet persistence, in continuing even when your body is tired, and in refusing to stop when the path feels long.
Every hour felt like a small victory. Every step forward felt like proof that I was capable of more than I believed. By the end of the hike, I was physically exhausted, but emotionally fulfilled. There was a deep sense of pride, not just in completing the walk, but in discovering a stronger version of myself along the way.
This hiking experience will always remain close to my heart. It was a reminder that growth does not only happen in workplaces or responsibilities, but also in moments of freedom, nature, and shared humanity. Most importantly, it taught me that I am stronger, more resilient, and more capable than I sometimes give myself credit for.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
