Believing in Myself Again Made Me Feel Classy, Confident, and Whole By Florence Wanga Shivoga

I joined VODW simply because I became a member and, in my own words, loved it. That love has carried me through more than two years across ESOL, IT, Mediacom, Mind and Wellness, and Financial Literacy classes, even though I admit I began the journey without much certainty that learning was still possible for me at this stage of my life.
I have focused especially on my IT class, working steadily to build my skills, and along the way I found my confidence building too. During my sessions, I felt that confidence take root, and by the end of my time in classes I can describe the change in myself with real warmth, saying that I now look classy, that I believe in myself, and that the way I used to see myself has completely changed. Where I once may have doubted my own worth, I now speak with the quiet certainty of someone who knows her own value. Graduation day brought a burst of joy for me, I felt excited and motivated wearing the gown, much happier than I expected to be.
My gratitude toward VODW is genuine and heartfelt, thanking the organisation for making this learning space possible for domestic workers like me. Looking ahead, my hope for other domestic workers is clear and encouraging, I want them to join VODW's classes to gain confidence and knowledge, particularly through IT and English lessons, the very subjects that helped transform my own sense of self.
My story is a warm reminder that confidence is not something a person is simply born with or without, it can be built, class by class, encouragement by encouragement, until a woman who once was unsure whether learning was still possible for her ends up feeling, in her own words, classy and whole, ready to stand behind VODW's continued fight for the rights and recognition every domestic worker deserves.
