Biography
My name is Sarah. I am 42 years old and was born and raised in the Philippines. I am the eldest of five siblings, with three sisters and one brother. Being the eldest child, I learned from an early age that I had responsibilities not only for myself but also for my family. As I grew older, I became one of the main people my family could depend on, and eventually, I became the breadwinner of our family.
I grew up in a remote area of Mindanao, where farming was the main source of livelihood for many families. Life was not always easy. Like many young people, I had dreams for myself and my family. I dreamed of finishing my studies, living a happy and peaceful life with my loved ones, having enough food on our table, and being able to go to school without constantly worrying about our daily needs.
As life went on, I made the difficult decision to become a migrant worker. Leaving my country and my loved ones behind was not easy, but I wanted to work hard and provide a better future for my family. However, while I was away from home, I experienced some of the greatest losses of my life. I lost my parents and my brother. Being far away from home when I lost the people I loved most was incredibly painful.
Hafidah
I choose to keep learning, growing, and becoming stronger through everything life brings. I choose courage to speak up, stand for myself, and use my experiences to help others who may be going through difficult times. I believe that no matter where we come from, we all deserve a chance to hope, grow, and build a better life.
