Discovering That Learning Has No Limit Changed the Way I See My Whole Life By Sarah

I joined VODW's classes for a reason that sounds almost simple, I wanted to learn. But over six months to a year spent across ESOL, IT, Mediacom, Body Mind and Wellness, and Financial Literacy, that simple wish opened into something much larger. I believed from the very beginning that learning never truly stops, as long as a person is willing to grow, and that belief carried me happily through every session.
The range of what I absorbed is genuinely something I am proud of. In IT, I learned to send emails and convert documents into PDF files, practical tools that quietly make daily life easier to manage. In ESOL, I sharpened my English while also learning about my ODW visa and the rules that shape my life in the UK, knowledge that so many domestic workers are never given access to. Financial Literacy taught me to spend wisely, to understand the difference between needs and wants, and to save rather than waste, while Mediacom introduced me to Canva and the creative satisfaction of designing and editing my own work.
During my sessions, I felt reconnected with myself, watched my stress ease, built confidence, grew more resilient, felt healed, and experienced a genuine sense of belonging, a remarkable amount of personal growth woven through what began as ordinary weekly classes.
Many words from my time in the classroom have stayed with me, though I could not single out just one, a sign of just how much these sessions gave me to hold onto. By the end, I am more confident than I ever imagined I could be. Graduation brought me real joy, and my message to my teachers captures the heart of what VODW offers, gratitude for making me feel that learning truly has no limit.
My hope for the future is generous, wishing that other domestic workers can adopt the same growth and confidence I have found for myself.
My journey through ESOL and its lessons on my ODW visa rights reflects exactly why VODW's campaigns matter so deeply to me, the fight for the right to renew the ODW visa, the right to change employer without restriction, the right to settlement, and the right to British citizenship. Understanding these rights is the first step toward claiming them, and my story shows how education and advocacy walk hand in hand at VODW, each one strengthening the other until a domestic worker not only knows her rights but believes, fully, that she deserves them.
