Steps of Strength. How Our Walk of Wellness Reconnected My Heart

Last November 2, 2025, we, the Future Voices Revolution, went on what we called our Walk of Wellness . A simple but meaningful journey to breathe, to heal, and to reconnect with nature. It wasn’t just about escaping the city or taking a break from our routines. It was about pausing, truly pausing to remind ourselves that in the middle of our busy lives and responsibilities, we also deserve peace, laughter, and time to nurture our hearts.
As we gathered early that morning, I could feel the excitement in the air. The sun gently peeked through the trees, the wind brushed softly against our faces, and the sound of footsteps and laughter blended like music. Every smile felt sincere, every conversation full of warmth. For once, we weren’t talking about work, deadlines, or challenges, we were just present, enjoying the moment and each other’s company.
With every step, I felt lighter as if the worries I carried slowly faded into the wind. The walk became more than a physical journey; it became an emotional one. I found myself opening up to colleagues I had never been close to before. We shared our thoughts, our dreams, and the stories of our struggles and triumphs. Listening to their experiences made me realize how strong and resilient each one of us is. Behind every smile is a story of courage.
That day reminded me how powerful community can be. It’s not just about belonging to a group, it’s about being part of a family that lifts you up, understands your silence, and celebrates your small victories.
I will treasure that day forever. It wasn’t just a fun outing, it was a moment of awakening. It reminded me how much I’ve grown and how deeply my journey with The Voice of Domestic Workers (VODW) has shaped me.
Being part of VODW has completely transformed my life. Before, I used to see myself only through the work I did for others. But VODW taught me to see my worth, to use my voice, and to believe that I matter too. It opened my eyes to new possibilities and gave me confidence I never knew I had.
This community became my second family, a place where I feel safe, valued, and understood. Every meeting, every workshop, every event is filled with purpose and love. We laugh, we cry, we learn, and we grow together. And every moment with them reminds me that we are never alone in our struggles.
I’m forever grateful to this organization that continues to guide and inspire me. Through VODW, I’ve met people who motivate me to chase my dreams no matter how far they seem. Hearing everyone’s stories, their pain, their perseverance, and their victories fills me with pride and hope.
To all the mentors and leaders who have walked beside us, thank you. Thank you for believing in us, for seeing our potential even when we couldn’t see it ourselves. You’ve helped shape the person I am today, stronger, braver, and more compassionate.
Our Walk of Wellness may have lasted only a day, but its impact will stay with me for a lifetime. It reminded me that healing comes from connection. From being surrounded by people who understand your journey and walk beside you through it.
This day wasn’t just about nature; it was about rediscovering ourselves. It was about healing, connection, and belonging. And for that, I will carry this memory in my heart forever.
