Learning That I Am Never Too Small to Matter Changed My Whole Outlook By Gellie

I joined VODW's classes wanting simply to learn more, arriving nervous, excited, and curious over six months to a year spent in ESOL, IT, Mediacom, Body Mind and Wellness, and Financial Literacy. I admit honestly that I had not believed learning was still possible for me before I joined, a doubt that makes my progress since then all the more meaningful.
Among my lessons, I highlight learning about my rights, along with practical digital skills like editing, copying, and pasting. During my sessions, I felt reconnected with myself, watched my stress ease, built confidence, grew more resilient, and found a genuine sense of belonging. One phrase in particular has stayed with me, a reminder that it is never too late to learn again, words that clearly helped me let go of the doubt I once carried.
The shift in how I see myself is powerful in its simplicity, I no longer feel little to myself. That is no small transformation for someone who once questioned whether learning, or growth of any kind, was even still possible for her. My graduation left me feeling proud of myself, a fitting close to a journey that began in real uncertainty.
My gratitude toward my teachers is warm, I call them a blessing to many people who are still dreaming, and my hope for the future is generous, wishing for more chances and more courage, both for myself and for others.
My realisation that I am not little, that I matter just as much as anyone else, reflects exactly the confidence VODW hopes to build in every domestic worker who walks through its doors, confidence that fuels not only personal growth but the collective courage behind campaigns for the right to change employer, to renew a visa, to settle, and to belong fully and legally in the UK.
