Using What I Learn in a Good Way Became My Guiding Promise By Gin

I joined VODW's classes simply wanting to learn, and more than two years later, across ESOL, IT, Mediacom, Body Mind and Wellness, and Financial Literacy, that simple desire has grown into a full and meaningful journey. I started out excited, and that excitement carried me through session after session, building something that has clearly stayed with me ever since.
My focus fell especially on IT and ESOL, and along the way I experienced what feels like a complete circle of emotional growth, reconnecting with myself, reducing my stress, building confidence, becoming more resilient, feeling healed, and finding a genuine sense of belonging. One piece of advice in particular has stayed with me, a reminder to be myself and to use what I learn in a good way, words that have become something of a personal compass.
By the end of my time in classes, I am more confident now than I have ever been before. My graduation left me feeling very happy and thankful, and my recognition with an award only added to the sense of accomplishment I carried with me.
My message to my teachers is simple and warm, gratitude for their time and their teaching. Looking to the future, my hope circles back to that same guiding idea, that everyone who learns these skills will go on to use their knowledge in a proper, meaningful way.
It is a quietly powerful hope, one that reflects exactly what VODW aims to build in every member, not just skills and confidence, but a sense of responsibility to use both wisely, whether that means supporting fellow domestic workers, advocating for fair treatment, or standing behind VODW's campaigns for the right to change employer without restriction, the right to renew the ODW visa, the right to settlement, and the right to British citizenship. My journey shows that the most lasting lessons are often the simplest ones, be yourself, and use what you have learned for good.
