We Are Not Invisible. A Call for Dignity, Justice, and Recognition for Domestic Workers

ree

To the policymakers we are not invisible. Every decision you make, every policy you sign, ripples through our lives. It determines whether we are seen or ignored, protected or forgotten. We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for fair immigration laws, legal protection, and the right to live and work with dignity. Our voices may have been silenced for too long, but we are here and we are speaking up. We are The Voice of Domestic Workers, and we are reclaiming our right to be heard.

Our Work, Our Worth

As domestic workers, we are often called helpers. But we are so much more than that. We are caregivers, housekeepers, cooks, nannies, and companions professionals whose labour keeps homes running, children safe, and families cared for. When parents leave for work, it is our hands that nurture their children. When the world sleeps, it is our strength that keeps households in order. When loneliness fills the corners of a home, it is our presence that brings comfort.

And yet, too often, our contributions are overlooked our rights denied, our humanity dismissed. We deserve respect, fair wages, and dignity, because our work matters. Our hands build comfort, care, and stability the very foundation of family life.

We Are Human Beings with Rights, Dreams, and Dignity

Domestic workers are not just employees — we are human beings with stories, families, and dreams. We too have hopes for our children, for a safer life, for a future where we are treated not as outsiders, but as equals. We deserve legal protection, not exploitation. We deserve safe working conditions, not fear. We deserve recognition, not invisibility. Our rights should not depend on our immigration status or where we come from. Every domestic worker, regardless of nationality, deserves to live with dignity and security.

Raising Our Voices, Together

Public awareness and advocacy are key to change. When society sees us truly sees us the narrative begins to shift. The Voice of Domestic Workers campaign exists to make that shift possible. Through collective strength, we continue to speak out against injustice, demand policy reform, and create a future where domestic work is recognized as real, respected, and protected work. We want the world to understand behind every clean home, every cared-for child, and every comforted elder, there is a worker whose heart beats with resilience and purpose.

We are not invisible. We are essential. We are women, migrants, mothers, and workers and we deserve to live and work with dignity, safety, and respect.
