A New Year Message to My Younger self About Trusting the Journey, Healing and Growth By Gellie

Hey you,

I know you’re trying so hard to hold everything together, even on days when it feels like the world is asking more of you than you have to give. I see the way you keep showing up, even when you’re tired, even when your heart feels heavy. I know how often you carry things quietly, telling yourself you’ll rest later, that you’ll be okay once you get through this moment.

But as this New Year begins, I want you to pause. Take a deep breath. Let the noise soften for just a second, because your future self has something important to tell you. You make it through. Not just barely. Not just by surviving. You grow. You become someone stronger, wiser, and more grounded than you ever imagined you could be. The moments you think are breaking you? They are shaping you. The doors that closed? They were guiding you toward better ones. Every disappointment is a redirection, every loss a lesson in how deeply you are capable of loving, and every fear is quietly revealing just how brave you already are.

There will be days when self-doubt tries to speak louder than your dreams. On those days, remember this, you are allowed to want more. You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to start again. No explanations needed. Growth is not betrayal of who you were; it is an act of respect for who you are becoming.

Choose yourself, even when it feels uncomfortable. Especially then. Speak gently to the person in the mirror, because they have been doing the best they can with what they know. Celebrate the small wins, the quiet progress, the unseen effort, the moments when you didn’t give up even though it would have been easier to do so.

And trust, truly trust, that the path you’re on leads somewhere beautiful, even if you cannot see it yet. Your heart grows bigger. Your world becomes brighter. And one day, you realize you were never behind. You were simply blooming on your own timeline.

So step into this New Year with hope. Not a loud, impatient hope, but a softer one. A hope that believes in healing, in growth, and in new beginnings. A hope that understands that becoming takes time, and that’s okay.

You deserve everything wonderful that is making its way toward you.

With love,Your future self
