Refreshing Old Knowledge Helped Me Rediscover My Confidence Completely By Aiza

I joined VODW's classes wanting to enhance both my knowledge and my confidence, arriving nervous but believing firmly that there is no age limit on learning. Over a year and a half spent across ESOL, IT, Mediacom, Financial Literacy, and Body and Mind Wellness, that belief was rewarded again and again.

Much of what I learned felt like rediscovery rather than entirely new territory, lessons I had encountered years earlier during my college days but had since forgotten. Returning to them now, I found the experience refreshing, knowledgeable, and confidence building all at once. During my sessions, I built genuine confidence, and one phrase in particular has stayed with me, a reminder to stay who I am and remain confident.

The change in me is one I describe with real warmth, VODW changed me from who I was to who I am today, and I no longer feel shy the way I once did. My graduation left me overwhelmed and excited, receiving my certificate and wearing the gown once again, a moment I clearly treasure.

My message to my teachers is generous and specific, thanking them for being such wonderful people to have met, offering my gratitude in advance to every teacher who guided me.

Looking to the future, I hope for more sessions on new topics, especially those focused on fighting for the rights of domestic workers, and I hope every new member sticks with the programme through to the end, just as I did.

That hope reflects precisely the ongoing work VODW continues to pursue through its campaigns, the right to change employer without restriction, the right to renew the ODW visa, the right to settlement, and the right to British citizenship, work that I, having rediscovered my own confidence, now feel ready to support and champion myself.
